Stellite 12 is a cobalt-based high-temperature wear and corrosion-resistant alloy produced by Qinchuan New Materials (Zhengzhou) Co., Ltd. The alloy complies with standards AMS 5894, AWS A5.13, and UNS R30112. It is a high-carbon, chromium tungsten-reinforced cobalt-based high-temperature wear-resistant alloy, belonging to the classic Stellite hard alloy system. With cobalt as the matrix, it features ultra-high wear and erosion resistance, excellent high-temperature red hardness, and superior resistance to sulfidation corrosion and thermal fatigue stability through alloying design with high chromium and tungsten, combined with a dispersed distribution of high-density hard carbide reinforcing phases.
Excellent wear resistance and impact resistance, superior red hardness at high temperature
Stellite 12 is made with a proprietary high-carbon, high-chromium, high-tungsten metallurgical formula, achieving stable hardness of 48-52 HRC in both cast and surfacing states. The alloy boasts exceptional resistance to abrasive wear, adhesion wear, and high-speed airflow/medium erosion. It does not soften at high temperatures and has extremely low wear attenuation, with superior red hardness at high temperatures compared to conventional stainless steel, carbon steel, and general cobalt-based alloys.
2. Excellent high temperature corrosion resistance and anti-sulfuration erosion
High-chromium cobalt-based matrix can spontaneously form a dense, strong, self-healing composite oxidation protective layer in high-temperature flue gas, sulfur-containing media, and humid heat corrosion environments, featuring excellent comprehensive properties of high-temperature oxidation resistance, sulfur corrosion resistance, and thermal corrosion resistance.
3. High temperature structural stability, outstanding resistance to thermal fatigue
The high-temperature microstructure of the alloy is extremely stable, with no phase transformation, grain coarsening, or high-temperature embrittlement issues during long-term continuous service at high temperatures. It possesses excellent thermal shock and thermal fatigue resistance, suitable for cyclic conditions with frequent start-stop of equipment, alternating cold and hot temperatures, and sudden temperature changes.
4. Wide process adaptability and diverse forming methods
Stellite 12 has excellent process compatibility, compatible with various forming and surface hardening processes such as precision casting, plasma welding, laser cladding, and plasma spraying.
